Another great week in Hradec Kralove!

Aug. 1, 2011
Hey Everyone!
It's been another great week here in Hradec Kralove! Things are really going good here. So this week was really cool. We met this guy in the park on Tuesday and he was out of work. We asked him if he ever thought about praying to find work. He said he didn't feel like he could pray to find work and actually expect to find it. So we met with him the next day and taught him the Restoration. He just took it all in. When Elder Nielson called him on Friday again, he said he had found work! It was really loud on the other side of the phone and so he couldn't hear much. He had also told us earlier he didn't have a phone charger so his phone would die soon, so when we called Saturday morning his phone was off. We haven't talked to him since but we will try to call him again this week. Our investigator has really been doing awesome this week! He is really asking a lot of good questions now and really is striving to grow. He has been reading a lot more in the Book of Mormon too which is awesome! We are still trying to get his wife to meet with us too, and I feel confident she will eventually as she sees how important this is to her husband.

Another cool story, we met with this girl this week who is Czech, but has been teaching English in China for a while. She is back here in the Czech Republic for a month and will be back again in December. She is super awesome though and was super excited to start reading the Book of Mormon. She then came to Church Sunday for 2 hours which was awesome and participated a good amount in the second hour. It was awesome.

So Elder Bailey and I had exchanges with each other this week. He came to Hradec Kralove with me for a day. We went to teach this guy who works at a parking garage, and this hockey game had just ended right next to it. So this guy and his son were in the parking garage making a huge scene about how the parking garage didn't have a bathroom while we were trying to teach a lesson. He kept yelling for the police to come, so our friend called the police, and told us to come back the next night. It was really funny because this guy was just so upset that there wasn't a bathroom in the parking garage. When Elder Nielson and I went to teach him the next night he had a lot of questions about the Book of Mormon. We had given him one the week before and he had read through 1 Nefi 17. It was cool to see that. We will see how it goes this Friday though.

So coolest story of the week though. One investigator who has been having dificulty accepting our message came to all 3 hours of church this week. She normally only comes 1-2 hours. But after church, she called Elder Nielson to tell him that she really loves our church! She agreed with everything that was said this Sunday and especially the lesson Elder Nielson taught 3rd hour during the combined 5 Sunday meeting. She said that she really sees how our church leaders care a lot for the members especially because they don't get paid. She said she can see how at her old church they cared, but she could tell they also did it for the salary. It was really cool to see her progress to this though!

So it had been really couldy and rainy this last week though. It rained a lot Saturday so we had game night instead of sports night. Normally at sports night, we only have like 2-3 investigators or less active members. At game night we had one investigator and one less active member. We played Ubongo which was pretty fun.

So for some questions people asked:
At church this week, I'm not sure how many people were there, but it wasn't as much as last week. I think we had like 48 though. But yeah if they had enough members for long enough, they would build an actual ward building somewhere. We will get there eventually!

All the members go to the Germany temple. I haven't heard of anyone going to Ukraine, but I'm sure some have.

I still really like to make Haluški which is a Slovakian meal. It's super good. Elder Nielson and I do cook a lot though. I usually make the spaghetti. If anyone has recipies for stuff I could make, that would be most appreciated.

Yes it has been couldy and raining a lot.

Elder Nielson has been on his mission for a little more than a year, and in Hradec Kralove for his second transfer, so about 3 months.

We don't tract very often, because contacting is usually better. We do when it is raining though, and we don't have any lessons on plan.

We don't eat at members very often because they all live kinda far, so I haven't had too many Czech meals yet. Hopefully soon!

Czech's are mostly atheist, but there seems to be a lot of Catholics too. Elder Nielson said there are a lot in Hradec Kralove.

Ask we more if you want! Have a great week. Love you all!
